đŸ™ŒđŸŒThis Week’s Inspiration

Santiago, Chile needs to be at the top of your list if you’re dreaming of a city that blends stunning nature, rich culture, and vibrant urban life. This dynamic capital is nestled in a valley surrounded by the Andes.

Here' how to make the most of your visit:

🌄 Top Things to Do in Santiago

Start with a ride on the Teleférico (cable car) for breathtaking panoramic views of the city and the snow-capped Andes in the distance.

Pair it with the Funicular ride up Cerro San CristĂłbal, where you'll find the iconic Metropolitan Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world.

Stroll through its lush gardens, visit the zoo, or enjoy a quiet moment at the Virgin Mary statue overlooking the city.

Head downtown to Plaza de Armas, the historic heart of Santiago, surrounded by colonial architecture, lively street performers, and important landmarks like the Metropolitan Cathedral.

Just a short walk away is Santa LucĂa Hill, a beautifully landscaped hilltop park with fountains, stone staircases, and panoramic terraces which is perfect for a sunset view over the city skyline.

Also explore neighborhoods like Bellavista for colorful street art and nightlife, and Lastarria for cozy cafes and artisan markets. Don’t miss the Museo de la Memoria, a powerful museum reflecting Chile’s recent history.

How to Get to Santiago:

Most international travelers arrive at Arturo Merino BenĂtez International Airport (SCL), just 20-30 minutes from downtown. Taxis, airport shuttles, and rideshares like Uber are readily available.

Where to Stay:

Hotel Boutique Castillo Rojo - this was Trisha’s favorite place we stayed during our entire visit to South America.

“The Red Castle” was built over 100 years ago.

Every room is beautifully decorated, breakfast and wine time in the afternoons are included. Trust us, you won’t want to leave.

Come to this room coffee, wine time, and to curl up with a great book

W Santiago - located in the heart of downtown, has a rooftop bar with panoramic views of the Andes

City Express by Marriott Santiago - if you need to stay near the airport, this is a great place! We stayed here when we arrived late in the evening and had an early morning flight to Easter Island. Breakfast is provided.

What to Eat:

Get a taste of Chile with local favorites like empanadas, pastel de choclo (corn pie), and completo (a loaded Chilean hot dog).

Try fresh seafood at the Mercado Central, and don’t skip on pisco sours or mote con huesillo, a traditional peach and barley drink.

What to Pack:

Santiago has dry, Mediterranean-like weather with warm days and cool nights, especially from September to November (springtime).

Bring comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and if you're heading into the mountains for hiking or skiing, warm outdoor gear is a must.
