Happy Monday traveler!
Naples and Marco Island are not very far from our home. We are able to drive there but don’t go very often at all.
Southwest Florida has a much different feel than where we live on the east coast. We enjoy the fast-paced life and events by us but it’s nice to take a step back on the other side.
There are a lot of things to do in this area if you like shopping, dining, boating, and outdoor fun but the thing that inspired us the most was the ability to just sit (or walk) and “be”. There are plenty of walkways, beaches, boardwalks, and lots of white sand to feel between your toes.
There are some touristy spots and the tourist season is November to April but even during those times, it’s a more laid-back feel. There is a lot of history to explore and a museum in Marco Island if you are interested in that type of thing.
The locals are kind and proud of their towns. We’d recommend going there when you want a slow, yet intentional, experience.

🙌🏼This Week’s Inspiration
The neighboring destinations of Naples and Marco Island offer beautiful beaches, fresh seafood, local shops, and scenic waterfront views that make this area perfect for a weekend trip or longer coastal escape.
Where to Explore
A must visit stop in Naples is Tin City. This historic waterfront marketplace sits along Naples Bay and has been welcoming visitors since the 1920s. The wooden boardwalks are filled with small locally owned shops selling handmade jewelry, coastal clothing, art, and souvenirs. It is a great place to wander, grab a snack, and watch boats come and go from the marina.

Tin City
Another popular area is Fifth Avenue South. This lively downtown street is known for palm lined sidewalks, boutique shopping, and outdoor cafés. Make sure to stop by Bonta Bakery for some delicious treats.

Nearby, Third Street South offers charming courtyards filled with art galleries, specialty shops, and local markets.
Nature lovers should also visit Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. A long boardwalk winds through wetlands and towering cypress trees where visitors may see birds, turtles, and even alligators.
Best Beaches
The beaches along the Gulf of Mexico are the highlight of this region.
Naples Beach offers 9 miles of pristine white sand is one of the most famous spots in the city. Note- Naples Pier is currently closed for renovations.
Delnor Wiggins Pass State Park is known for its natural shoreline and calm waters. It is a perfect place for swimming, shelling, and spotting wildlife.
On Marco Island, Tigertail Beach is a favorite for shell collectors and bird watchers. The wide sandy beach and shallow lagoon make it a beautiful place to kayak or explore. Walk across the lagoon to Marco Island Beach.

Locally Inspired Shopping
In addition to Tin City, visitors will find many small locally owned stores throughout downtown Naples selling handmade jewelry, art, beachwear, and home décor inspired by the Gulf Coast.
Farmers markets are also popular in the area. Vendors often sell tropical fruit, fresh citrus, local honey, baked goods, and handmade soaps. Third Street South Farmers Market is open on Saturdays in Naples, and Marco Island Farmers Market is open on Wednesdays during the months of November-April.
